“I am not a thug,” said Garzali on the program ‘Dadin Kowa.’
Actor Amir Iliyasu Macross, who is better known as Garzali from the program “Everybody’s Pleasure,” has stated that he is not a thug.
He explained that his portrayal in the movie leads some people to perceive him as a gangster; however, he insists that he is not involved in gangsterism in real life.
During a discussion with Film Magazine about this perception, Macross said, “The environment makes me look like a thug.
Currently, I am playing Garzali in the program ‘Dadin Kowa,’ but throughout my more than twenty years in the film industry as an actor, director, and producer, I have not been labeled this way before.
” He mentioned his involvement in producing films like “Jarin Ibro” and “Asusun Ibro,” which contributed to his recognition in the industry.
Macross expressed pride in the opportunity he has received with the name Garzali, saying, “I am grateful for this recognition and thank God for it.
This role has helped me gain many fans both within and outside the country. I remember when a team of filmmakers traveled to Niger for a play, and while I was acting as a gatekeeper, the crowd was so large that I felt overwhelmed.”
He shared that the Anti-Drinking and Drug Trafficking Commission even invited him to a meeting to discuss the effects of alcohol and prostitution.
When he encounters alcoholics and individuals involved in crime, they often joke with him, unaware of the wisdom he offers about the consequences of their lifestyles.
“Because of the name Garzali, I am blessed wherever I go. I am thankful for this recognition and call on the youth to avoid behaviors such as prostitution and alcoholism.
I want them to understand that I am not a thug; rather, I am warning against the dangers associated with these issues,” Macross concluded.
