Hauwa Abubakar Ayawa (Azima Gidan Badamasi): A Journey Through Film and Life

One of the most popular Hausa movie actresses in the Kannywood industry, Hauwa Abubakar Ayawa, popularly known as Azima Gidan Badamasi, has spent many years in the industry and is a former producer. In an interview with Rumbun Nishadi, she discussed aspects of her film career and personal life.

What kind of achievements have you accomplished in film?

Hauwa shared her thoughts, stating, “There is something that has been achieved by the grace of God. It is a great blessing to be seen with dignity and to be in good health. When you wake up and realize that you have not lost the essentials of life, it is important to thank God. We are grateful and ask for even more blessings. If you desire happiness, you should always pray for God to multiply His blessings upon you.”

What significant moments have you experienced in the industry that you will never forget, whether happy or sad?

Hauwa emphasized that her experiences have been filled with happiness. “There is so much to be grateful for, especially living in peace with everyone around me. We should thank Allah and send blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). May Allah increase our love for him and elevate our status in the eyes of others.”

What is your next dream regarding a movie?

“My dream is to produce my own film,” Hauwa expressed. “I pray to God that I will have the opportunity to be my own producer.”

Which actors have impressed you, both before you started filming and now that you are in the industry? Who are your role models?

Hauwa mentioned, “I find everyone’s acting impressive. Even small gestures can touch me deeply. In my eyes, everyone is my hero and has their unique strengths.”

Who is your mentor in the Kannywood industry?

“My mentor is my father, Falalu A. Dorayi. He means everything to me in this industry.”

What are your thoughts on the perceived lack of respect in Kannywood, particularly between those in higher and lower positions?

Hauwa replied, “May God bless us all. I believe in respecting both those above me and those below. I would never refer to someone by their name without adding a term of respect. It’s important to respect others, as it reflects on yourself too.”

If you were asked to share one thing that has never happened to you in the Kannywood industry, what would it be?

“I would say, for the sake of God, let us love each other genuinely and completely.”

Regarding marriage, have you ever been married, and when do you plan to tie the knot?

“No, sister, I have never been married. However, that is our prayer – to find a good husband when the time is right,” she laughed lightly.

Are you open to marrying a colleague from the film industry?

“Yes! Absolutely,” Hauwa affirmed. “If there is love between us, I would marry him and trust that we would thrive together.”

For example, if you got married and had a daughter who wanted to act in a movie, would you support her decision, or would you disagree?

When I got married and had a daughter, my sister wanted to leave me, but I saw it as a significant opportunity for my career. I didn’t just view acting as a hobby; I took it seriously because I recognized its value. If my daughter expressed interest in acting, I would gladly support her. I would take her to auditions and wait for her to finish, or I would pick her up afterward.

What advice would you give to those trying to enter the movie industry, including your colleagues?

The advice I would give to those starting out in the film industry—myself included—is to know yourself and understand your worth, as well as the worth of your parents and the people around you. Avoid doing anything that could tarnish your reputation or that of your family and friends. Consider your actions carefully: if you’re in a relationship, think about how it reflects on you. It is essential to be mindful of what you post online to prevent criticism or ridicule. We should strive to ensure that our actions do not bring disrespect to ourselves or our loved ones. I pray that God guides us to avoid anything that would lead to our disgrace.

What message do you have for Leadership Hausa newspaper, the Rumbun Nishadi page, and the rest of the community reading this interview?

I wish them all the best. May God continue to bless them, elevate their status in the eyes of the world, and provide support in all their endeavors. I sincerely wish them well.

Is there anyone you would like to greet?

I’d like to send my regards to lovers, brothers, and everyone else. I wish you all well. May God keep us together in peace. To my friends and supporters: if you have any feedback about my actions—whether you believe I’ve done something inappropriate—I welcome your advice.

Please feel free to reach out to me through my social media direct messages. I promise to respond and will strive to make any necessary changes. My only request is for guidance in the spirit of God and the Prophet. I am grateful that we are united, and I hope for blessings for us all, as well as good husbands in the future.

Thank you, and may you rest in peace.
