Eminent poet and writer Alhaji Aminu Ladan Abubakar (Ala) has announced that he has made significant progress in writing his autobiography, covering the years from 1982 to 2024. He intends for the book to provide insights and benefits for readers and listeners alike.
Twenty-five years ago, Ala established himself in the realm of fiction, authoring around ten books before transitioning into poetry. When Fim Magazine inquired about the purpose of his upcoming publication, he stated, “I have planned to publish a book that captures my life history from 1982 to 2024. I have already made considerable progress, and, God willing, I will begin publishing it in the near future.”
Regarding the cover of the book, he noted, “Some people mistakenly thought it was a poem when they saw the cover circulating on social media. However, it is not.
Despite my prominence in poetry, I originally began writing this autobiography during the years when I was writing fiction. This book is a narrative of my life, highlighting a bit of my history, background, struggles, and the motivations behind my songs, as well as how I lead my life now and my aspirations for the future.”
He continued, “While numerous scholarly writings exist from students pursuing higher education across various universities, certain aspects of one’s life history are known only to the individual. As a writer, I believe it is essential to share and release my story.
Many have written about my songs and their meanings, but I intend to provide my personal history regarding the creation of specific songs, such as ‘Fuju’a’ and ‘Tsohuwa Ta Illela.’ Some of these songs were made without financial gain; they stem from my volunteer spirit and passion.”
Ala expressed his desire to convey how he manages his home life with his family, his relationships with his children, as well as his interactions with politicians, queens, and affluent individuals.
“These experiences carry messages that only I, as the person living this life, truly understand,” he explained. “Although I am not the first to write a biography, my writing style will reflect contemporary influences, setting it apart from previous works.”
When asked about the structure of the book, Ala replied, “It will narrate my history alongside the events that shaped it. I anticipate the publication of volumes one and two, as it is crucial to preserve this history.
The book will be available in the market and shared on social media and radio stations for wider audience engagement. I am currently continuing to write and plan how to read excerpts that will benefit the audience after its release. I hope that God helps me fulfill this dream of creating a new literary style that I wish to achieve.”
